AI Caption Cut vs Caption Cut Pro

These are two unrelated products with names close enough to be mistaken for each other. AI Caption Cut — also written AICaptionCut, after the domain — is a free website that captions video in your browser. Caption Cut Pro is a paid plugin that adds caption tools inside Final Cut Pro on a Mac. Neither company is the other, and neither is a version of the other.

Which one were you looking for?

If you edit in Final Cut Pro on a Mac and want caption tools inside that timeline, you want Caption Cut Pro, and you should buy it from whoever sells it. Nothing here replaces a plugin that lives in your editor.

If you do not have a Mac, do not own Final Cut Pro, or simply want captions on a video without installing anything, that is what this site does. Open it, pick your video, and the captions are generated in the browser you already have open.

Why the names are so close

We are called AI Caption Cut because the tool captions and cuts video — captions, auto-cut, reframe, colour. The domain closes the words up, so the name is written both ways in the wild: AI Caption Cut and AICaptionCut. Caption Cut Pro arrived at a similar name from the same two ordinary words.

Similar names are not a relationship. There is no shared code, no shared company and no licensing arrangement between the two.

What AI Caption Cut does

It transcribes your video with speech-to-text, times the captions word by word, and lets you restyle them from a library of templates — then burns them into an MP4, or exports .srt and .vtt if you would rather subtitle elsewhere. It also cuts long recordings into vertical clips, reframes to 9:16 and grades colour.

All of it runs on your own device. Your video is read from your disk and written back to it, and is never uploaded to a server — which is also why there is no account and no upload limit.

AI Caption Cut is free to use, with unlimited exports at 480p carrying a small watermark. Removing the watermark is a one-off payment for that one video — 720p, or full 1080p at 60fps — or an Unlimited Pass that covers every export for thirty days. Subtitle files are free either way. It is charged in your own currency at checkout, and there is no subscription and no account.

Questions

Is AI Caption Cut the same as Caption Cut Pro?

No. They are separate products from different makers. Caption Cut Pro is a paid plugin for Final Cut Pro, so it needs a Mac and a copy of Final Cut to run at all. AI Caption Cut is a website that runs in any browser on Windows, macOS, Android or iPhone, needs no install and no account, and generates the captions itself rather than adding a panel to another editor.

Is AICaptionCut the same as AI Caption Cut?

Yes — one product, two spellings. The name is AI Caption Cut and the domain is aicaptioncut.com, so people write it both ways. Both point at this site.

Do I need Final Cut Pro to use AI Caption Cut?

No. You need a browser. There is nothing to install, no plugin to load and no editor to own — and it works on Windows and Android, where Final Cut Pro does not exist.

Does AI Caption Cut work as a Final Cut Pro plugin?

No, and it is not trying to be one. If you want captions inside your Final Cut timeline, a plugin is the right tool. What this site can do for a Final Cut editor is generate the .srt file free, on your own machine, which you can then import into your project.
